IDEAs Events

Events and academic life at the IDEAs Programme

The Inter-Departemental European Avanced Studies Programme at the College of Europe offers a rich and dynamic intellectual environment through its diverse programme of events. Weekly book presentations, organized in collaboration with the College Library, provide a space for dialogue between visiting professors, external scholars, students, and faculty. Held every Wednesday at lunch time on the Versversdijk campus, these sessions contribute to shaping an “ideal IDEAs library” and foster interdisciplinary engagement around key themes in European studies.

The programme also hosts annual colloquiums. These events bring together scholars and practitioners to explore evolving research perspectives, with outcomes leading to publications. Past editions have addressed major shifts in the study of European governance, reflecting on three decades of fieldwork and theoretical innovation.

In addition to these main events, the IDEAs Programme regularly supports other academic activities, such as the opening lecture, which takes place before the first school trip of the year to Flanders Fields.
