Cesira D’ANIELLO

Cesira D'Aniello worked for the EU institutions from 1983 until 2022. She started as an information officer at the European Commission Delegation to the United States where she was responsible for relations with US universities and president of the local staff association. She then joined the General Secretariat of the Council where she spent most of her career: as a press officer following the internal market; in various positions dealing with the Common Foreign and Security Policy, including a detachment to the French Ministry of Defence; as the first director of transparency; and for six years as director of human resources. Her last post was secretary-general of the European Ombudsman. After retiring, among various EU-related activities, she presided the Committee of the Regions’ disciplinary committee, was a member of Transparency International’s EU Executive Board and supported the Council’s first simulations of EU decision-making, which gathered student delegations from all member States.
During her work in the CFSP area, Cesira D’Aniello was a visiting professor at the College and taught a 25-hour course on CFSP functioning and mechanisms.
She enjoys travelling, hiking and history.
