Aoife GRIFFIN

Aoife Griffin (IE) is Senior Academic Assistant in the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies, which she joined in August 2022. She is also a PhD researcher at Maastricht University. Her research focuses on the EU’s rule of law promotion in states of the Western Balkans and Associated Trio, with a focus on anti-corruption.

She holds an MA in European Interdisciplinary Studies, with a major in the EU and its Neighbours from the College of Europe at Natolin (2022, Éliane Vogel-Polsky promotion), an MA in European Studies, majoring in EU External Relations and Globalisation (2021, KU Leuven) and a BA degree in History and Politics (2020, University College Cork).

Fields of interest: EU enlargement, Associated Trio, the Western Balkans, promotion of democracy, human rights and the rule of law and minority issues, nationalism and identity politics in the EU and its neighbourhood.
