On Friday, 31 March, a preparatory lecture was held on campus before the upcoming second semester Study Trip to the Western Balkans (Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina).
The lecture, titled "The Western Balkans: contemporary political and cultural tensions in historical context," was presented by Dr Tomasz RAWSKI, a political and cultural sociologist who works as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sociology, University of Warsaw. Dr RAWSKI has expertise in nationalism, socialism, memory politics, and the sociology of film in Eastern Europe.
During the lecture, which was attended by the students participating in the trip, Dr RAWSKI provided valuable insights into the underlying causes of recent and current conflicts in the region, as well as the challenges that arise from these issues, which must be addressed in the European Union integration process of the Western Balkan states.
The second semester Study Trips are an integral part of the Natolin academic program, and for the 2022-2023 academic year, the destinations include the Western Balkans, the Nordic Baltic region, and Brussels. More information about the Study Trips can be found here.
