Seminar on the Resurrection of Notre Dame: "Unveiling the Catholic Legacy of Secular France"

From 16:00 till 18:00
Winter Garden
Natolin (Warsaw) Campus

The Religion and Politics Nest of the College of Europe in Natolin was pleased to organise a seminar dedicated to the Resurrection of Notre Dame titled "Unveiling the Catholic Legacy of Secular France" with Frère Marc CHAUVEAU, the Guest Curator at Galerie Saint-Séverin for 2024.

The profound significance of Notre-Dame’s restoration was at the heart of the speech of our distinguished guest, highlighting its role at the intersection of faith, culture, identity, and the state in France.

The reconstruction of this iconic cathedral goes beyond the physical rebuilding of a monument; it embodies a deeper reflection on the relationship between religious and cultural heritage, public authorities, and historical preservation. The opening ceremony, which was primarily liturgical, underscored the enduring spiritual and national symbolism of Notre-Dame, making it a focal point for broader discussions on how France navigates the balance between secularism and its Catholic legacy.
