Nurlan ALIYEV Featured in War on the Rocks Expert Interview

Dr Nurlan ALIYEV, Senior Research Fellow at the College of Europe in Natolin, was recently featured in an expert interview with War on the Rocks, a prominent platform for analysis and debate on strategy, defense, and foreign affairs, widely read by policymakers, military professionals, and strategic thinkers.

In the interview “Russia’s Blurry Line Between Science and Sabotage Beneath the Ocean’s Surface,” Dr Aliyev revisits his research of Russia’s research fleet and assesses recent developments in the security of critical undersea infrastructure. He discusses NATO and EU efforts to strengthen deterrence and defense in the Baltic, Barents, and Arctic waters, the evolving role of Russia’s dual-use research fleet and maritime robotic systems, and the importance of continued transatlantic cooperation in responding to undersea security threats.

The interview appears in War on the Rocks’ Rewind & Reconnoiter series, which invites experts to revisit their earlier analyses in light of subsequent developments and assess how their original arguments stand up over time.
