Focus of the Nest in 2023-2024: Migration and Human Rights
In the academic year 2023/2024 the Academy of Migration will address the phenomenon of migration from a human rights-based perspective. The analysis of migration from such a stand will include:
These topics will be reviewed in the light of the ongoing political developments in Europe’s neighborhood and beyond current migratory trends at the EU’s southern and eastern borders, the situation in main countries of origin and host countries (Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Afghanistan, Syria, Turkey, United States) as well as the implementation of EU and other international and global regulations on migration.
In the course of 2023/2024, we shall learn and deliberate the phenomenon of migration and human rights with particular attention to how sensitivities around it play in internal and international debates, how governments manage migration politically, and what language is employed to talk about it in the public space, including mass and social media.
