Library Talk on 'The Other America' by Monika Triest

The Bruges Library of the College of Europe kindly invites you to the first lecture in the Library Talks Series linked to the promotion patron Madeleine Albright. The one-hour lecture will focus on the book 'The Other America: in the shadow of Trump' by Monika Triest.

She is a Belgian feminist, author and former professor. She studied classical philology at the University of Ghent and obtained a doctorate in social sciences at the University of Cincinnati in the United States with a thesis on women and trade unions. She lived and worked in Canada and the United States in the 1960s and 1970s, taught at the University of New Brunswick and Antioch College. From 1981 to 1983, she chaired the Vrouwen Overleg Komitee, from 1985 to 1988 she held the first chair in women's studies at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and from 1988 to 2008 she held management positions in provincial education.

Triest is also the author of books on women, emancipation, feminism, history, and the United States.

The lecture will focus, among other things, on the US Constitution, resistance movements and women's movements in the USA and will be followed by a Q&A session. Please register before 25 October, 12:00.
