LEAD Albania participants strengthen EU Integration knowledge at the College of Europe
From 1 to 5 June 2026, the College of Europe proudly welcomed the 13th cohort of Fellows of the LEAD Albania Program — a distinguished leadership initiative organized by the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF).
In recognition of the LEAD Albania Program’s committment to developing and integrating components that are essential for Albania's future , and in response to the growing need to equip Albania with a well-prepared teams to better support the government in its EU Integration efforts, for the second year the AADF selected the College of Europe as the institution responsible for delivering executive education on EU Integration to LEAD Fellows. This strategic partnership reflects the Program's dedication to preparing Albania's next generation of leaders for the country's most important national priority, while reinforcing the College of Europe’s role in supporting capacity-building efforts for professionals engaged in Albania’s European path.
The Fellows participated in a five-day executive training course on EU integration and its implications for Albania, specifically designed by the Executive Education, Training and Projects Office of the College of Europe and delivered by its distinguished pool of experts and trainers. Throughout the week, participants gained practical insights into the functioning of EU institutions and decision-making processes, examined current EU challenges and the dynamics of the enlargement process, and strengthened their public speaking, policy briefing, and leadership communication skills.
The programme further included a Welcome Reception and high-level study visits to the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the Permanent Representation of Croatia to the European Union — offering participants direct exposure to EU institutions and firsthand perspectives on the enlargement process. The week concluded with a simulation of an EU accession negotiation meeting, providing Fellows with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the training in a practical and immersive setting.
The LEAD Albania Program offers carefully selected young professionals the opportunity to gain firsthand experience at the highest levels of government in Albania. Modelled after the White House Fellows Program in the United States, the Program was established to foster the development of future leadership in Albania and drive meaningful change across the country's public institutions. Building on the success of the training organised last year, the College of Europe is honored to continue and deepen its partnership with the AADF in support of this vital mission.
