The Geostrategy Nest of the College of Europe in Natolin was honoured to organise a high-level lecture titled: "Baltic Security and the War in Ukraine" delivered by Mr Artis PABRIKS, former Minister of Defence of Latvia.
The high-level lecture focused on the critical issues surrounding Baltic security in the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine. With Russia's continued aggression, the Baltic states are increasingly concerned about regional stability and defence preparedness. Our distinguished guest speaker shared his perspective based on his extensive experience as well as explore strategies for reinforcing deterrence in the Baltics and whole Europe.
About the guest speaker:
Mr Artis PABRIKS is a Latvian politician, academic, and a former Minister of Defence of Latvia. He has played a key role in shaping Latvia’s security and foreign policy, particularly in the context of NATO and EU defence cooperation. Mr PABRIKS served as Minister of Defence from 2018 to 2022 and previously held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2004 to 2007.
He was also a Member of the European Parliament, contributing to discussions on security, defence, and regional stability. He is currently leading the Northern Europe Policy Centre.
