Luc THOLONIAT

Luc Tholoniat is Director for the Economies of the Member States at the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) of the European Commission. Since joining the Commission in 2000, he has held various positions focusing on policy coordination, economic, employment, and social affairs. He served as Policy Assistant to the Secretary-General from 2010 to 2014 and as Economic and Social Adviser to the President from 2014 to 2019, before joining DG ECFIN. He also worked as a researcher at a Nordic think-tank specialised in sustainability, climate, and energy issues. Luc is a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He has taught at Sciences Po and Sorbonne University and is the author of several papers on the role and policies of the European Commission.
