Training for Panamanian Diplomats

The College of Europe organised a training course for Panamanian diplomats on ‘Navigating the UN Security Council’, with a focus on sharing best practices from the European Union. 

The training took place online from 3 to 6 September 2024 within the framework of the EU-funded project ‘EU Policy Outreach Partnership with Mexico and Central America’.

Ahead of Panama being part of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as a non-permanent member for the period 2025-2026, the training entailed an introduction to the workings of the UN system in general and the dynamics of the UNSC in particular. This academic perspective was complemented by sessions with high-level practitioners sharing first-hand experiences and advice regarding working in the UNSC context.
