Het Europacollege en de Stad Brugge: Een duurzaam partnerschap voor de toekomst
Dit jaar viert het Europacollege zijn 75ste academiejaar – en daarmee ook 75 jaar gastvrijheid en steun van de Stad Brugge.
Ter gelegenheid van deze mijlpaal ondertekenden het Europacollege en de Stad Brugge een erfpachtovereenkomst voor de twee hoofdgebouwen van het College aan de Dijver en de Garenmarkt. De overeenkomst verleent het College het gebruiksrecht van deze gebouwen voor de komende 66 jaar en bevestigt daarmee het blijvende engagement van de Stad Brugge en haar ambitie om Brugge als Europese en internationale stad verder te versterken. Het College zal beide gebouwen renoveren.
Rector Federica Mogherini verklaarde:
“Ik ben de Stad Brugge en burgemeester Dirk De fauw zeer dankbaar voor dit krachtige teken van hernieuwde steun. Het Europacollege is historisch en symbolisch diep verankerd in Brugge. We zijn trots dat we samen met de stad naar de toekomst van het College kunnen kijken. Onze ambitie is om de banden met Brugge en haar lokale gemeenschap verder te verdiepen.”

The College of Europe and the City of Bruges: A Lasting Partnership for the Future
This year, the College of Europe celebrates its 75th academic year—and with it, 75 years of being proudly hosted and supported by the City of Bruges.
Marking this milestone, the College of Europe and the City of Bruges have signed a long-term leasehold contract for the College’s two main buildings on Dijver and Garenmarkt. The agreement grants the College use of these premises for the next 66 years, reaffirming the City’s enduring support and its commitment to strengthening Bruges’ European and international dimension. The College commits to renovating both premises.
Rector Federica Mogherini stated:
“I am deeply grateful to the City of Bruges and Mayor Dirk De fauw for this strong sign of renewed support. The College of Europe is symbolically and historically rooted in Bruges. We are proud to look to the future of the College hand in hand with the city. Our ambition is to further deepen our ties with Bruges and its local community.”
