Dr Sławomir Dębski is a foreign policy expert and strategist with a proven track record of advising Poland's governments since 2000. He is a team leader, institution builder, and interagency communication expert known for his extensive experience and contributions to international relations. He served as director of the Polish Institute of International Affairs from 2007 – 2010, 2016 – 2021 and 2021 – 2024. He also served as director of the Centre of Polish-Russian Dialogue and Understanding from 2011 – 2016. He also was head of the PISM Research Office from 2002 – 2007.   

Dr Dębski is also an author and editor of several publications, including Europe Whole and Free: Vision and Reality(together with Dr Daniel Hamiltion), Washinton, Warsaw, 2019; A study on Soviet-German Relations 1939-1941, which was awarded "the Historical Book of the Year" by the Society of History Book Publishers and recognised as "The Author of Historical Book of the Year" by the quarterly "Przegląd Wschodni" (the Eastern Review) in 2004. He was the editor of three volumes of the Polish Documents on Foreign Policy: 1918, 1919 vol I & II. He is the Editor-in-Chief of "Polski Przegląd Dyplomatyczny" [Polish Diplomatic Review] and the Russian Language Quarterly "Europe."
