Debate on The Legacy of The Cold War with Mr Edward LUCAS

A partir de 16:15 till 18:15
Winter Garden
Natolin (Warsaw) Campus

On Thursday, 19 October 2023, the European Civilisation Chair at the College of Europe in Natolin had the honour of hosting Mr. Edward LUCAS for a debate on The Legacy of the Cold War.

This debate examined our guest’s remarkable professional journey as a prominent commentator and analyst of the end of the Cold War and used this experience as a proxy to foster further conversation about the nature of transformative political developments.

It touched upon the most recent events and discussed to what extent Cold War concepts and analogies were useful to describe the then-current situation. The debate also examined the past and current positions of the US and Russia on key “unsettled issues” of the end of the Cold War present in the Balkans, the Black Sea, and Eastern Europe of the former Soviet Union regions.

The debate was combined with a workshop for College students and had a continuation in the form of a simulation game addressed directly to examine the legacy of the end of the Cold War.
