The 4th Volume of Natolin Nests Series on "Revisiting the European Green Deal" is Released
The College of Europe in Natolin has released the fourth volume of its Natolin Nests Series, titled "Revisiting the European Green Deal". The publication originates from the 5th Natolin Energy and Climate Conference, held on 20 June 2024 and organised by students of the Madeleine Albright Promotion within the Natolin Climate and Energy Transition Nest.
The Natolin Nests Series is a distinctive collection of publications emerging from annual conferences dedicated to energy transition, European energy policy and international climate action. Edited by leading scholars, the series brings together contributions from students, alumni, academics and practitioners, offering fresh perspectives on the European Union’s role in global energy and climate governance.
Edited by Dr. Beatriz MARTINEZ ROMERA of the University of Copenhagen, the latest volume examines the European Green Deal at a time when its implementation faces increasing political, social, economic and geopolitical pressures.
Contributors explore a wide range of topics, including energy justice, climate communication, agri-food policy, hydrogen strategy, international trade, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and the Arctic dimension of climate policy. The publication also assesses the Green Deal’s social and justice implications, its influence on internal EU policymaking, and its broader global impact.
Combining academic research with student-led initiative, Revisiting the European Green Deal provides a timely and critical evaluation of the Green Deal’s achievements, challenges and future prospects. The volume highlights the complexities of ensuring that Europe’s green transition remains effective, socially accepted and politically legitimate.
