On 26 January, the eve of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Dr. Robert ROZETT, the director of libraries in the Yad-Vashem institute in Jerusalem, came for a discussion with the College students and Bruges citizens on "Current Anti-Semitism in Europe: Something Old and Something New?". Dr. Rozett spoke about the historical, social and cognitive sources of Anti-Semitism, and prejudices more generally, and their current indications and meaning.
Over the past 35 years, Dr ROZETT has been an important member of the “Yad Vashem” Holocaust memorial institute in Jerusalem, and for over a decade serving as director of the institution’s libraries. His work as a joint editor on “The Facts on File: Encyclopedia of the Holocaust” was named Best Specialist Reference Work of the Year – 2001 by Reference Reviews – UK.
Among Dr ROZETT’s works on the issues of European history and the Holocaust are: “Conscripted Slaves: Hungarian Jewish Forced Laborers on the Eastern Front during the Second World War” (Yad Vashem, 2013); “Diminishing the Holocaust: Historiographical Underpinnings,” (Israel Journal of Foreign Affairs, vol. V I, no. 1, 2012) and “Approaching the Holocaust, Texts and Contexts” (Vallentine Mitchell, 2005).
