Chair of Transatlantic Trade and Economy - Transatlantic Relations in a Year of Decision

From 16:30 till 18:00

2024 marks a critical juncture for transatlantic relations as several significant factors converge. Beyond possible election outcomes, this year will see the conclusion of the terms of both the European Union and the United States executive bodies for the first time in twenty years. Against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical tensions exemplified by the war in Ukraine, the Gaza conflict and rising tensions with China, the resurgence of protectionism and the rapid progress of artificial intelligence point to an increasingly complex strategic landscape.

To explore these crucial issues, the Chair of Transatlantic Trade and Economy (College of Europe, in cooperation with Microsoft), and in collaboration with the College of Europe Alumni Association, is pleased to announce its next event, "Transatlantic Relations in a Year of Decision", scheduled for June 17th from 16h30 until 18h00 (followed by a reception).

Join us for an engaging conversation featuring:

  • Dr. Rosa Balfour, Director of Carnegie Europe.
  • Dr. Charles Kupchan, Senior Fellow at the Council of Foreign Relations and Professor of International Affairs at Georgetown University.
  • Mr. Dan Michaels, Brussels Bureau Chief for the Wall Street Journal.

This discussion will be introduced and moderated by Dr. Ian Lesser, Chair of Transatlantic Trade and Economy.

The event will take place at the Microsoft Center Brussels, 51 Rue Montoyer, and will consist of a conversation followed by a Q&A session and a reception. Remote attendance will also be possible.
