The College of Europe is seeking applications for the position of Academic Liaison Coordinator (100% FTE), joining the Academic Administration Office (Bruges campus) from 1 October 2024, to coordinate the work with the European Transformation and Integration Studies Department (ETI) at the Tirana campus during the academic year 2024-2025. The successful candidate will be hired under and contribute to the execution of the EU funded Project: “Implementation phase for the establishment of a College of Europe campus in Tirana (Albania)”, IPA 2024 455-237. 

About the College: Welcome to the laboratory of the European integration 

The College of Europe, with its Bruges campus established in 1949 and its Natolin campus established in 1992, is the oldest postgraduate institute of European studies. Currently, the College of Europe hosts more than 340 students in Bruges and 120 students in Natolin. Students come from approximately 50 nationalities every year and follow advanced Master’s programmes of 10-month duration in a residential format (“studying and living Europe together”). Starting in September 2024, a new study department "Master of Arts in European Transformation and Integration – The EU and South-eastern Europe” (ETI) – at the recently established Albanian branch (“Tirana campus”) of the Belgian foundation of the College of Europe – will enroll over 30 students in its first cohort and grow in numbers over time. The ETI programme provides a unique academic offer, combining EU affairs with region-specific elements of Southeastern Europe – while upholding the high academic standards of the College of Europe. Responding to emerging challenges and equipping students with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes for their future careers, the programme will provide a distinguished educational framework for students from the Western Balkans, the European Union and beyond. 

Profile

For the key position of Academic Liaison Coordinator, the College is looking for candidates, with:  

  • A postgraduate degree in European Studies, Law, Economics, Political Science or International Relations (a PhD in one of these fields is considered an asset);
  • An excellent command of English; a (very) good command of French, and other languages, considered an asset;
  • A very good understanding of the EU, its institutions and policies;
  • Experience with or a good understanding of the College of Europe;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in higher education (preferably, including course planning, development and implementation of academic curricula, preparation of accreditation processes, etc.);
  • Full digital literacy;
  • Good analytical and organisational skills, ability to meet tight deadlines and attention to detail;
  • Result-oriented approach as well as a proactive and cooperative outlook;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team;
  • Open personality with strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills and a flexible and goal-oriented mindset.

Role 

The Academic Liaison Coordinator will be working under the supervision of the Director of the Academic Administration Office (Bruges campus) and in close cooperation with academic team of the the ETI Department at the College of Europe in Tirana (Albania).

Tasks include:     

  • Coordinate with and support the academic team of the ETI Department to ensure the smooth implementation of the programme and the compliance with the College’s academic standards, rules and regulations;
  • Provide administrative support for professors and other stakeholders in the concrete steps towards the development and implementation of the ETI programme during the academic year 2024-25, including the scheduling of courses, examinations and activities;
  • Liaise with and manage administrative tasks related to the daily academic operations of the ETI Department in close cooperation with the Administrative Assistant (Academic Section) in Tirana;
  • Coordinate the processing of academic data of ETI students (marks, transcripts, diplomas, etc.) and preparation of other documentation of the ETI Department to be submitted to the College of Europe’s Academic Council;
  • Assist in preparing the extracurricular offer/activities of the ETI programme in line with the College’s best practices;
  • Provide administrative and organisational support to the Academic Administration Office for academic matters related to the Tirana campus;
  • Coordinate and facilitate the interaction between the academic departments of the Bruges campus with the ETI Department in Tirana;
  • Liaise with the Administrative Liaison Coordinator on the implementation of the project, including reporting in the area of academic administration, such as student registration, course scheduling, ICT support and equipment, finance, and budget;
  • General support for the implementation of the first academic year of the Tirana campus and preparation of the expansion of the ETI programme in the future.

The Academic Liaison Coordinator will be based in Bruges – with regular visits to Tirana.
