Gabriel Fragnière, born in Lausanne, Switzerland, 4 March 1934
Mr. Fragnière has taught and worked at the College of Europe, at the American University (Washington D.C.), at the European Community Institute for University Studies (Brussels) as well as the European Institute for Education and Social Policy of the European Cultural Foundation (Brussels-Paris).
From 1980 to 1991 he was Director of the European Centre for Work and Society (Utrecht-Maastricht) in the framework of which he assumed the directorship of Eurotechnet, an EEC programme on vocational training and new technologies.
From 1992 to 1993 he was Director of the Programme for European Studies at the Central University, Prague.
He was editor of the "European Journal of Education" (1975-1980).
He was Secretary-General of the "European Society for Engineering Education" (SEFI) and of the "Association for Teacher Education in Europe" (ATEE).
From 1 September 1993 to 31 December 1995 he was Rector of the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium).
Mr Fragnière passed away on 9 September 2015.
