In the framework of its National Week, the Italian Society of the College of Europe has organised the Conference "The EU in an Increasingly Complex World: Internal and External Challenges"
In order to discuss such issues, we were pleased to welcome:
- Ambassador Luca FRANCHETTI PARDO, Italian Permanent Representative to the Political and Security Committee of the European Union;
- Professor Giovanni GREVI, Senior Fellow at the European Policy Centre and Visiting Professor at the College of Europe, co-author of Empowering Europe’s Future: Governance, Power and Options for the EU in a Changing World’(2013) and author of European Security and Defence Policy – The First Ten Years (2009);
- Doctor Gian Paolo ACCARDO, Executive Editor of VoxEurop and Correspondent for Internazionale in France, he covers French, Belgian and European politics;
- Doctor Giulia PASTORELLA, Government Relations Manager at HP – EU.
The speakers addressed the following topics: Latest developments in the Common Security and Defence Policy (Amb. Franchetti Pardo); External Challenges: Transatlantic Relations and Global Governance (Dr. Grevi); Internal Challenges: Populism, Migration, Brexit (Dr. Accardo); and The future Italian contribution to the EU integration process: which role and responsibilities for the New Young Generation of EU citizens? (Dr. Pastorella).

The conference was followed by a reception in the Foyer, where guests had the opportunity to taste Italian wines and enjoy 'aperitivi' offered by Medolago Albani Wine Company.
